Working from home

After some weeks of HarperLees working from home, we have developed our top 5 tips:

  1. Maintain working hours. Create a schedule and stick to it. It is too easy to keep working until 10pm.
  2. Schedule regular breaks and take them. Even if is just a trip downstairs to make a drink. Enjoy having a proper break for lunch.
  3. Ensure you have a pleasant workspace. Regardless of the space available, keep it as comfy and tidy as you can and ensure everything you need is in one place.
  4. Keep in contact with the rest of your team. Video calls are important. Around the office you would catch up for a chat, that shouldn’t change.
  5. Set realistic goals. Work may be more difficult, with slower IT connections or through not having that face to face contact.

Home Schooling

Taking on the role of teacher can just add to the pressure. It needs to be fun too. If you are struggling for resources to help children with their education, or even your own, here are a few of our favourites:

Coronavirus – a book for children

Written by Elizabeth Jenner, Kate Wilson and Nia Roberts

This is a FREE digital information book for primary school age children to help explain the coronavirus and the measures taken to control it. It answers lots of questions in a child-friendly way, and aims to both inform and reassure. Published by Nosy Crow and illustrated by Axel, the text had expert input from Professor Graham Medley of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and also two headteachers and a child psychologist.
