Adrian

In the office

After four years of training in accountancy, Adrian switched careers to become an insurance agent for Co-operative Insurance Society in 1979, moving on to Assistant Branch Manager. He joined Royal Life in 1986 and eventually became the Branch Manager in Billericay in 1992.

In 1996, Adrian founded HarperLees, initially as an IFA practitioner but transitioning into Financial Planning between 2004-2007, so that he could improve the client outcomes.

Having worked closely with a number of small business owners, Adrian’s focus gravitated towards pre-, at and post-retirement planning, underpinned with lifestyle financial planning. He also added  specialist later-life planning in recognition of the increasing demand from clients for support with family members and long-term care funding.

Adrian’s proudest moment as a financial planner was celebrating the 25th anniversary of HarperLees in 2021, longevity proving it was the right decision all those years ago!

Adrian is now following the advice he has been giving to clients for many years now and has retired as a Financial Planner and Director from HarperLees.  In between his numerous and well-deserved holidays, he remains a Business Consultant.

Adrian still has an interest in ensuring that that there is support available for family members and long term care funding and is therefore a member of the Advisory Board for the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA).

At home

Adrian has been married to Carrie, who now also works in the business, for 46 years. They have two grown-up children and two amazing grandchildren. Adrian has been a senior practitioner of Karate Do Shotokai since 1975.  He and Carrie both love gardening, spending time on landscaping and the structure of their garden to ensure it’s low maintenance as they grow older.

An SPS can only be issued by an FCA appointed accredited body, and confirms that an adviser has adhered to a code of ethical standards, holds the required qualifications for the activities they undertake, and has completed the appropriate CPD.

You can view Adrian’s SPS and entry on the FCA register below.

In the

Spotlight

On an ideal weekend, you can find me:

With our grandchildren, at a karate course in the UK or Europe, or working in the garden followed by a BBQ.

My favourite holiday destination is:

Anywhere in Europe, so we can drive and be in control of our journey: France, Spain, Italy, UK.

The first album I bought was:

Moody Blues – On the Threshold of a Dream.

When the dessert menu arrives, I’m looking for:

I’m not really a dessert eater, but if pushed, sticky toffee pudding drowned in custard.

The three qualities that draw me to new people are:

Confidence, a firm handshake and a smile.

My pet peeve is:

Middle lane motorway drivers.

The best gift I’ve ever received is:

My grandchildren.

The three people at my dream dinner party would be:

Ranulph Fiennes, Murray Walker, and Jasper Carrott.

The three small things that make my day better are:

Cup of tea in bed before the day starts, WhatsApp with our grandchildren, a gin and tonic in the summerhouse in the evening sunshine.

The types of people I most enjoy working with are:

People with a passion for life, optimistic about the opportunities still to be explored.
