Janet & Peter

Peter:
Hello, my name is Peter, and this is my wife, Janet. We’ve been clients of HarperLees for about 18 months.

Janet:
I decided to work with a financial planner because I was hitting the big age of 60, and wanted to retire. Looking at my pension, it seemed like a minefield and I didn’t think I could retire. I was quite depressed about that because I’d always aimed to retire around that age. But we started working with Mark at HarperLees, and he put everything together for us.

Peter:
We decided to work with HarperLees after a personal recommendation from friends, who said they were professional and the best in the business.

Janet:
When we first started to work with HarperLees, it made our lives much easier because they took our huge pile of paperwork and, within quite a short space of time, came back to us with a really good prediction that I could actually retire.

Peter:
HarperLees started by sending us some questionnaires to fill in with what our predicted expenditure might be in future. They asked us to be as honest as we could. So, we filled them all out, HarperLees took our projected pensions and then condensed the information down to make graphs. When they showed us, the graphs illustrated that, yes, we would be okay to retire, and that HarperLees would be able to manage it.
The prospect of trying to manage our own funds was just way beyond us. We were getting bombarded with paperwork from various pension companies, but HarperLees showed us that they could manage our funds all together and their predicted outcomes were great. It’s exactly what we wanted to hear.

Janet:
I retired on 31 March, which was excellent. Best thing I ever did.

Peter:
I’ve sort of retired by default. I used to work in the live music production industry, and we all know what happened to that in 2020. I have started doing some part-time work, but am effectively retired, to all intents and purposes.

Janet:
I’d describe HarperLees as very friendly, and great at putting you at ease and giving you confidence that they’re going to help you through your retirement.

Peter:
