Your update: The investment landscape and what’s been happening at HarperLees

By HarperLees

As we move towards the end of February, we thought now would be a good time to look back at 2025, both in terms of the wider investment markets and what’s been happening here at HarperLees.

What next for investment markets?

2025 overall provided another strong period of investment returns, even considering that the markets were spooked in April by the extent of President Trump’s tariff announcements, with the threat of a global trade war continuing for some months.

With markets in ‘bull’ territories since 2023, this naturally leads to questions of what comes next.

We share our thoughts in our blog, What next for investment markets?

New IT systems, exam success, promotions, and celebrating a very special anniversary!

For HarperLees, 2025 was particularly busy due to our decision to change our IT systems and introduce AI meeting recording software.

We knew this was a necessary change and one which is starting to bring benefits to our client service and our efficiency. The new software is helping to free up our team members’ time, so they can spend it more productively working with our clients.

We’re delighted to have received positive feedback on our client portal, so please take a look if you haven’t already. Here, you can view and securely manage all your documents with us.

Our team members are also celebrating exam successes. Jess has started her path to achieve her Diploma by passing R01 (Ethics), and Ella has attained her Diploma in Financial Planning and is continuing towards her Advanced Diploma.

Trey and Laura are already Chartered financial planners and have continued to update and enhance their knowledge, with Trey passing CF8 (Long Term Care) and Laura passing R01 (Ethics) and R03 (Personal Taxation).

We’re thrilled to announce promotions for Trey who is now an Associate Director and Sam who is now our Practice Manager.

Also, a special mention for Laura, who has recently reached her 10-year HarperLees anniversary!

We’re really proud of all our team members and their commitment to their continuing education and career development, helping them to help you even more.

Charity of the Year – Kids Inspire

We have supported Kids Inspire as our Charity of the Year since 2024. In 2025, we donated £1,850 in lieu of sending Christmas cards and from our client recommendations scheme. We greatly appreciate your introductions to HarperLees – thank you!

We have decided to extend our support to Kids Inspire for 2026 and will continue to make a payment of £50 when our clients introduce a friend or family member to HarperLees.

As before, we’ll make the donation if we have a meeting with the individual, irrespective of whether they choose to become a client. But naturally, we hope that we can bring value to them too!

The Coat: a short film about children’s mental health, from Kids Inspire

Watch The Coat now

What is The Coat?

Imagine carrying a heavy, oversized coat every single day – one that represents the hidden worries and anxieties children often hold inside. Our film uses this powerful metaphor to show how the right support can lighten that load, helping children and families feel seen, heard, and more resilient.

Why now?

Right now, one in five children in the UK are struggling with their mental health, with half of all problems beginning before the age of 14. The Coat is our way of helping people pause, notice, and understand why our support has never been more needed. The child who needs support could be someone in your personal or professional life.
