It seems incredible that we have been working remotely from the office for 10 weeks already, and extremely reassuring that we have functioned well and webcam meetings are now the ‘norm’. We have even welcomed new client relationships despite only ever meeting virtually!

With the latest Government timetable for lockdown release, we have been reviewing our position too.

In this edition, we have updated our HUB information with the latest Government updates on shops reopening, the NHS Track and Trace and avoiding financial scams.

We continue our distraction ideas along with the HarperLees Desert Island Discs series. We are seriously worried by the lockdown impact on Dee’s appearance!

HarperLees Wellbeing HUB

We have updated our HUB this week with the following items:

• HM Government announced the timetable for some businesses to reopen from 1 June. For full details and the new guide – Working Safely during Covid-19 in Shops, click here
• We featured financial scams in a previous newsletter. Our updated guidance now includes Aviva’s new practical guide for staying safe online is here
• The NHS Track and Trace system has been launched. This sadly brings another opportunity for the scammers. Please note if you are contacted, the only genuine NHS number is 0300 013 5000. For full details, click here

Lonely, Joel Corry – Quite appropriate on a desert Island!

This is Real, Jax Jones and Ella Henderson – A good, upbeat song to keep you going.

Fall on Me, A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera – Beautiful song, one of my absolute favourites.

Omen, Prodigy – The majority of Prodigy songs are great for running.

Since U Been Gone, Kelly Clarkson – A great song to cleanse the soul to – everyone at some point in their life can relate to this one!

Papercut, Linkin Park – This is the band that changed my music style forever!

Underneath the Tree, Kelly Clarkson – Who doesn’t love a Christmas song? 😊

Song #3, Stone Sour – Another beautiful song, by my favourite band.

Book: Battle Scars, Jason Fox. Great book, I struggled to put it down.

Hope The Rainbow Fairy – This is a lovely colourful book (and rainbow merchandise) designed for younger children. It is  available as an e-book, a printed version and as audio versions read by Johnny Vegas, Alan Carr, Suranne Jones and Anna Friel amongst others. The project raises funds for the NHS Charities Together.

Viewing

Messiah by Handel – The Bristol Old Vic are streaming their show.

LUNGS – Claire Foy and Matt Smith perform a socially distanced version of Duncan Macmillan’s hilarious emotional rollercoaster of a play about a couple wrestling with life’s biggest dilemmas live from The Old Vic.

Take That – The band with Robbie Williams will be performing on Friday 29 May at 8pm from their homes (palaces?).

Harry Potter at Home – For the children/grandchildren and many adults! This includes videos from stars of the film reading chapters of Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone.

Ben May  – Journey – Ben is the talented pianist and composer son of HarperLees’ Carol May. We asked Ben to share his story:

Over the course of the three years I spent at Uni studying maths, I made some great friends, learnt lots of new things and created a lot of memories which will stay with me for the rest of my life.

I have found that expressing myself comes a lot more naturally at a keyboard than it does with a pen in hand, which is why I decided to sum up my time at Uni by composing and recording a short piano album called “Journey”.

The inspiration for my music has come from these Uni experiences as well as from listening to music by some of my favourite composers such as Chopin and Einaudi. Enjoy!

Ben’s album is available to stream free of charge via YouTube and Spotify.

Hot Slick by PINS ‘This vibrant album is filled with neon synths, loud guitars, and melodies that mirror the group’s new boldly hued imagery and create the sound of a girl gang refreshed and amplified’. This will definitely have you dancing around the kitchen!

All albums are available to stream via the usual providers. However, please consider better supporting the artists who have all seen their income dramatically reduce through Covid-19 by buying the physical versions.
